Nicolas Fiumarelli is a 33-year-old computer engineer who has nearly 10 years of experience in Internet development in the Latin American and Caribbean region. He is currently a software and network engineer at the Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean (LACNIC), where he has participated in the development of systems such as RPKI and RDAP to improve the security and stability of networks and internet routing. He is an expert in routing and security, having co-authored three drafts in IETF on IPv6 security and routing security.

Since 2014, Nicolas has been a member of the ISOC Uruguay Chapter and a recognized leader in the field of Internet governance. In 2016, he co-founded the Youth IGF Uruguay, a non-profit organization that promotes training and capacity building on topics related to Internet governance for young people.

He has been selected for several youth ambassador programs, including the ISOC Youth IGF Ambassador Program in 2019, where he played a mentoring role in 2020 and subsequent years. He has also served as a spokesperson for national and regional youth initiatives, played a key role as a panelist and technical advisor for the Youth LACIGF event in 2021, and was appointed as the Engagement Director in 2022.

In 2021, Nicolas co-founded the non-governmental organization IoT Cybersecurity Latin America and the Caribbean, which advocates for the development and implementation of IoT technologies from a secure and sustainable perspective. He is an activist and researcher on emerging issues such as quantum communications and IoT security.
Nicolas is a champion of IPv6, routing security, and privacy awareness. He is an expert in topics such as DNS, community networks, youth inclusion, encryption, Internet access, and artificial intelligence.

He has been an ICANN Fellow on two occasions, and has been engaged with the organization since attending ICANN53 in Buenos Aires in 2015. Fiumarelli actively participates the Latin American and Caribbean Islands Regional At-Large Organization (LACRALO), Internet Service Providers and Connectivity Providers (ISPCP), and the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG).

He is currently the chair of the WG1 for the Dynamic Coalition for Internet Standards, Security, and Safety (IS3C) for the 22-23 term and a member of the YCIG Board committee since 2022. Nicolas has also served as a speaker and moderator of several sessions on various topics at the IGF 2021 in Katowice and IGF 2022 in Addis Ababa.
Nicolas Fiumarelli's dedication to creating a more secure and sustainable internet, particularly for young people, is truly admirable. He is an evangelist of IPv6 deployment, security, and privacy awareness, and an advocate for the involvement of young people in the global events related to internet governance.
